Pele is the beautiful goddess of volcanoes, fire and the creator of the Hawaiian Islands. She is known as “she who shapes the sacred land” and is honored in many Hawaiian chants and hula dances that are dedicated to her. The dances often represent her passion and fluidity of movement. 

She is fierce, fiery, mischievous, and sometimes vengeful. It’s said she brings bad fortune to anyone foolish enough to take any pieces of her lava rock from the Hawaiian Islands as a souvenir. It’s also said that she likes her offerings, especially Ti leaves, flowers, and gin.
